Description:

The default bonus for this item is a bonus to Armor Class and Resistance against any attack that targets Armor Class. The bonus starts at 1 and increases by +1 every 5 levels (2 at level 6, +3 at level 11, +4 at level 16, +5 at level 21, and +6 at level 26).

There are six abilities that can be unlocked, each for a particular level range (1-5, 6-10, etc.). If an ability isn’t unlocked by the time the character reaches the next level range (if Bolstered Athleticism isn’t unlocked by 6th level, for instance), the ability is automatically unlocked.

There is no set requirements for unlocking the powers. That is left to the players to determine what they want to do and what they think is appropriate (with final DM approval, of course.)

Bolstered Athleticism (Levels 1-5): Kin awakens the inherent power of the deep purple dragonshard. She can feel its eldritch energy pulsing like a heartbeat, and the power generated by the dragonshard flows through her body. Initially, the magical energy of the dragonshard is focused on Kin’s legs, bolstering her athletic abilities, granting her a +2 bonus to Athletics and Endurance. In addition, Kin is able to dodge out of the way of the most damaging attacks – any critical hit that targets her AC is automatically converted to a normal hit. Finally, the dragonshard’s power enables her to make amazing bursts across the battlefield, granting her the Combat Sprint power.

Whirlwind Strike (Levels 6-10): The dragonshard continues to grow in power and the eldritch energy reaches her torso. Kin finds that she can focus this magical energy into her torso and arms, creating a devastating attack to those near her. She gains the Whirlwind Strike power.

Rotating Strike (Levels 11-15): The dragonshard awakens knowledge within Kin about how to move and interact with the natural world, granting her a +2 bonus to Athletics and Nature and allowing her to re-roll all Athletics checks (always using the higher of the two rolls). In addition, Kin learns to better control the energy of the dragonshard, focusing it to deliver vicious roundhouse attacks to her enemies, granting her the Rotating Strike ability.]

Speed and Sight (Levels 16-20): The energy of the dragonshard is amplified in Kin’s legs, granting her a +4 bonus to speed. In addition, the magical power pulses up to Kin’s eyes, allowing her unparalleled sight, granting her the Enchanced Vision ability.

Effect: For a number of rounds equal to your Wisdom modifier, you can see any location within range as if it were illuminated by bright sunlight. You can see through solid objects and can make out details as if you were standing adjacent to the object of your focus.

Grappling Hook (Levels 21-25): Kin gains the ability to focus the dragonshard’s energy into her hands, allowing her to launch a tethered hook at objects and enemies, granting her the Grappling Hook and Get Over Here! powers.

Hit: 2d10 + Strength modifier damage. If the target is your size or smaller, you slide the creature to a square adjacent to you. If the target is larger than you, you shift to a square adjacent to the target.
Miss: Half damage and the target is knocked prone.

Complete Dragonshard Power (Levels 26-30): The energy of the dragonshard pulses through the entirety of Kin’s body, and this compressed magical force strikes back at those who seek to harm the warforged. Whenever any creature hits Kin with a melee attack, it takes damage equal to Kin’s Constitution modifier. Furthermore, the dragonshard powers Kin’s powers of perception and memory, allowing her to perfectly recall and mimic the actions of those she observes carefully, granting her the Ability Mimic power.

Effect: During a short rest or an extended rest, you can store one at-will or encounter power that you observed in the past 24 hours withinin your dragonshard. This power can be one of your own powers, one of your allies’ powers, or it can be a power of a creature or enemy that you observed on or off the battlefield. You can have only one power stored in the dragonshard at a time. The dragonshard cannot store a power of higher level than you (or a power from a monster of a higher level than you). Once the power is used, another power must be stored in the dragonshard before it can be used again. If a new power is stored before the old one is used, the old power is lost.
If the stored power is an encounter power, you must spend 1 action point to use it.
Powers that can only be used once per day cannot be stored within the dragonshard.
